Dear Parents and Students,
Over a year ago, I began a research study that explored students' out-of-school reading habits and motivation. Several months ago, many of you helped me by responding to a questionnaire. Thank you parents for your participation, and thank you students for taking the questionnaire home, talking with your parents about it, and returning it promptly. My research has led me to creating this website. I was astonished when I learned that teachers were considered a last source for students' reading material. I want to change that by doing the following:
Parents, I have invited students to get on the blog anytime they wish. I would like to extend this invitation to you. Please feel free to leave a comment. It will not appear immediately because all comments must receive approval before it post.
Additionally, if you have questions, comments, or concerns, you may email me at [email protected].
Thank you again,

My research has led me to creating this website. I was astonished when I learned that teachers were considered a last source for students' reading material. I want to change that by doing the following:
- letting students and parents know what books I have available in my classroom library for students and parents to borrow,
- creating a place where students can comment on and discuss books,
- taking suggestions about what books students want to read so I can expand my classroom library appropriately,
- and getting information out to parents and students about the importance of out-of-school reading and sources for reading materials.
